Uncharted PC Port: Download & Install on Windows or Linux

Updated · Checked against SuperMedo Windows v0.3.6, spacepepperoni Linux v0.3.6-linux.81

Play Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 from The Nathan Drake Collection through an unofficial native PC port. The program runs the PS4 game code on your PC and translates its graphics to Vulkan. Bring your own decrypted, extracted PS4 game data; the program download contains the launcher and runtime.

Start with SuperMedo v0.3.6 on Windows or spacepepperoni v0.3.6-linux.81 on Linux and Steam Deck. Download the matching program below, check your hardware and existing game directory, then follow your system's steps. The Linux branch is still a work in progress, with physics problems in Uncharted 2 and frequent crashes in Uncharted 3.

Download from GitHub

Open the release page and expand Assets. Choose the filename in this table for your operating system.

Use the AppImage for the Linux installation below, including Steam Deck. The archive is the other packaged Linux program; Source code (zip) and Source code (tar.gz) are for building the project. Keep the project name, release tag and asset filename together when choosing a download.

For a first installation, use the formal versions in this table. Development branches and testing releases have a separate explanation on PC port projects. That page also lists exact program sizes and the available checksum information. Download updates from the project's Releases page or its launcher.

Check your PC and game files

Check the hardware first so you can choose a suitable starting setup before opening the launcher.

Intel Core 3rd generation and older cannot run the Windows games in this version. AMD FX support starts with v0.3.6, which handles its missing MOVBE instruction. A different graphics setting will not resolve an unsupported CPU.

On a 4 GB graphics card, leave Anti-aliasing and Frame generation off. These cards can run out of video memory and crash after playing for a while. If that happens, match the symptom on Troubleshooting.

Your existing game directory should contain these collection entries:

Entry Check
Entryeboot.bin CheckExecutable for Uncharted 1
Entrybig2-ps4_Shipping.elf CheckExecutable for Uncharted 2
Entrybig3-ps4_Shipping.elf CheckExecutable for Uncharted 3
Entrysce_sys/ CheckCollection metadata, including param.sfo
Entryu1data/, u2data/, u3data/ CheckThe corresponding game data directories

For Linux, use CUSA02320 v1.00. On Windows, check your own title ID and version against Game files & version: the fixes for some regions and revisions have different conditions. Select the directory containing the entries above, rather than a parent folder that merely contains another collection folder.

Keep the complete contents of your prepared copy together. If a required file is missing, resolve the directory check before launching. The game-files page explains what the launcher reads and how its per-game directory options work.

Install on Windows

Use SuperMedo v0.3.6 and uncharted-windows.zip.

  1. Extract the ZIP into a folder for the port program.
  2. Open Uncharted.exe from the extracted folder.
  3. Open Game.
  4. Select your prepared collection directory in Game folder.
  5. Open Display and start with Frame rate → 60 FPS.
  6. Open Play and choose Drake's Fortune, Among Thieves or Drake's Deception.
  7. Press PLAY.

Python and the program's libraries are included. You can complete these steps with the packaged launcher.

The default saves and shader-cache directory is user\ beside Uncharted.exe. Game → Saves folder lets you choose another location. Note that location before changing installations so you can find your existing saves again.

Keyboard, mouse and a controller work together. Open Controls before starting if you want to change a binding or mouse sensitivity; changes apply when you next start a game. The controls guide lists the defaults and explains the Display settings.

After configuring the launcher, Play Uncharted.exe starts with the saved settings. Uncharted.exe --play provides the same direct-launch route. On the Play page, Add to Steam creates an entry that starts the selected game with saved settings; Desktop shortcut opens the launcher. Complete the normal setup first so the saved game directory and selected game are ready for direct launch.

Install on Linux

Use spacepepperoni v0.3.6-linux.81 and Uncharted-x86_64.AppImage. Complete the Linux edition check before selecting your game directory. The current interface uses Library, Settings, Controls, Files and Advanced in its navigation.

  1. Save the AppImage in a folder for the program.
  2. Right-click it and open Properties → Permissions.
  3. Enable Is executable or Allow executing file as program.
  4. Open the AppImage.
  5. Open Files → Game folder and select your prepared CUSA02320 v1.00 collection directory.
  6. Open Library.
  7. Press Play beside the game you want to start.

The default saves location is a Saves folder inside the selected game folder. Files → Saves folder lets you choose another directory; the Files page also provides entries for each game's saves. Keep that location available when you move or update the program.

On Steam Deck, install and open the AppImage from Desktop Mode, then use the launcher's Add to Steam action for the game you want to play in Game Mode. The AppImage is the package to use for this setup.

Steam Deck mode is selected automatically on SteamOS. In this release it starts with a 60 FPS target, with 30 FPS also available, 1280×800 output, FIFO presentation and fullscreen. Anti-aliasing and frame generation start off. Keep these initial settings while you check that the game opens; use the Settings page to choose 30 FPS if you want a lower target.

For this Linux release, Uncharted 1 reaches gameplay, Uncharted 2 has physics glitches, and Uncharted 3 crashes frequently and is not yet fully playable. Keep that limitation in mind when choosing which game to begin with.

First launch and exit

  1. Wait while the launcher prepares the selected game.
  2. Check that a separate game window opens.
  3. Check movement and the camera with your chosen input device.
  4. If a control needs changing, close the game before applying a new binding in Controls.
  5. Start the game again with the new settings.

On Windows v0.3.6, the shader cache is rebuilt once. The first minutes of each game can stutter more while shaders are prepared. Give this first run time before changing several graphics settings.

Esc or Enter sends the game's Options button.

On Windows, the launcher's Stop control terminates the running game; reserve it for a game you need to stop. On Linux, close the game window to end the run. Closing the launcher window only closes the launcher.

If the game closes or stays black, open Troubleshooting and use the matching symptom. The last-run log is in the selected saves directory: by default user\last_run.log on Windows or <game folder>/Saves/last_run.log on Linux.

Update the port program

Close the running game and back up the saves directory you selected before updating.

For Windows, use the launcher's update offer, or extract the latest uncharted-windows.zip over the existing program directory. The updater keeps saves, settings, input.ini and generated out\ files. Open Advanced if you want to check for an update manually or change the startup update check.

For the Linux AppImage, Advanced → Automatic updates controls update checks. The launcher can replace the AppImage and restart itself. Other Linux installations open the fork's Releases page for the update. If you update from a direct game launch, start the game again after the update finishes.

After updating, check the program version, game directory and saves directory before starting a game. If you change to a different port project, use that project's own package and settings instructions.
